PCSC Athletes of the Week: December 18

The Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 11-17 on Tuesday following a light week of action ahead of the holiday break. Fresno Pacific duo Olga Tovstogan and Aleksei Averchenko collected the only honors of the week after competing at the Lancer Winter Invitational.

DIVISION II WOMEN

Olga Tovstogan, Fresno Pacific: Tovstogan won the 200 breaststroke (2:14.96) and 100 IM (57.64) at the Lancer Winter Invite. Over the course of the weekend, she also placed second in the 100 breast and 200 IM. She was also part of four winning relays, swimming breaststroke on both medley relays and contributing to the 200 and 400 ree relays. Both her breaststroke events, the 200 IM and her leadoff of the 400 free relay (51.96), all qualified as NCAA B cuts.

DIVISION II MEN

Aleksei Averchenko, Fresno Pacific: Averchenko won the 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke at the Lancer Winter Invite. He also contributed to second-place finishes in four relays. The award is Averchenko's second of the season.

The PCSC includes institutions from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). All three divisions of the NCAA are represented. Each week, the PCSC coaches nominate and vote on the Athletes of the Week in seven categories: NCAA Division I women, Division II men and women, Division III men and women and NAIA men and women.
