PCSC Athletes of the Week: January 22
The Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 15-21 on Tuesday. Fresno Pacific's Iskender Baslakov and Cal State East Bay's Serene Augustain collected the only honors of the week as competition winds down ahead of next month's conference championships.
DIVISION II MEN
Iskender Baslakov, Fresno Pacific: In his debut as a Sunbird, Baslakov won the 100 back (49.42, B Cut) and 50 freestyle (21.10) in a dual meet against Cal State Bakersfield. He also led off the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays.
DIVISION II WOMEN
Serene Augustain, Cal State East Bay: Augustain led the Pioneers to a victory at the Biola Invitational this past weekend with two wins in the 500 free (5:10.38) and 200 IM (2:14.91), while also picking up a second-place finish in the 200 free (1:57.53).
The PCSC includes institutions from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). All three divisions of the NCAA are represented. Each week, the PCSC coaches nominate and vote on the Athletes of the Week in seven categories: NCAA Division I women, Division II men and women, Division III men and women and NAIA men and women.
