2024-2025 PCSC Post-Season Awards

2024-2025 PCSC Post-Season Awards

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference (PCSC) proudly announces its 2024-2025 Post-Season Award winners, recognizing the exceptional achievements of the conference's top athletes and coaching staffs. This season was marked by record-breaking performances, national-level recognition, and historic team successes.

2024-2025 Male Athlete of the Year

Rasmus Hanson – Sophomore, Fresno Pacific University

Fresno Pacific's Rasmus Hanson dominated the pool this season with an explosive start at the La Verne Invitational, setting three NCAA Division II qualifying marks and breaking two school records in the process. Hanson posted a blistering 19.71 in the 50 freestyle, 43.86 in the 100 freestyle, and 1:36.14 in the 200 freestyle – winning all three events.

He carried that momentum into the PCSC Championships, claiming first-place finishes in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle, while also securing a runner-up position in the 200 butterfly. At the NCAA Division II National Championships, Hanson represented the conference proudly, finishing 25th in the 50 free, 23rd in the 100 free, and 17th in the 200 free.

"Rasmus put Fresno Pacific and the PCSC on the national map this season with outstanding performances. He’s a fierce competitor with a bright future," said Elizabeth Thistle, Assistant Director of Athletics Communications at Fresno Pacific.

2024-2025 Female Athlete of the Year

Montana White – Senior, Azusa Pacific University

Azusa Pacific’s Montana White delivered one of the most decorated seasons in PCSC history. Undefeated in the 200, 500, and 1000 freestyle events all season, White led the Cougars to one of their best finishes ever at the PCSC Championships. She went on to shine at NCAA Division II Nationals, becoming APU’s first-ever 4x NCAA First Team All-American in a single year.

Her NCAA finishes included a 3rd place in the 200 Free with a time of 1:47.49, 6th place in the 100 Free at 50.16, 6th place in the 500 Free at 4:51.47, and 8th place in the 1000 Free at 10:03.76. Montana scored 53 individual points at Nationals and was a model of sportsmanship and elite performance.

Montana White’s season was nothing short of historic – an inspiration not only to her team but to the entire PCSC community.

2024-2025 Men’s Team Coaching Staff of the Year

University of California, Santa Cruz

Matt Crawford (Head Coach), Hailey Garlich (Associate Head Coach), Giovanni Wenzler (Assistant Coach), Ariel Williams (Diving Coach)

UC Santa Cruz’s coaching staff led the Banana Slugs to their most successful season in program history, capturing their second PCSC men’s title with the largest winning margin since UC San Diego’s departure from the conference. The team qualified both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays for NCAA Nationals, earning Second Team All-American honors in both events. Six swimmers were named All-Americans, and the 200 free relay finished 11th while the 400 free relay placed 16th nationally.

Kyle Reitan was a standout performer, earning First Team All-American honors in the 50 freestyle by finishing 6th in the country. Remarkably, Reitan was a walk-on who entered college swimming with a 50-free time of 22.2 in high school and dropped to 19.95 by Nationals. The Banana Slugs earned four event wins and twelve podium finishes at the 2025 PCSC Championships, along with 32 A-final swims, 21 B-final swims, and 13 C-final swims. They went undefeated in PCSC dual meets, were runners-up at the La Verne Invitational, and won the Slug Shootout.

The UCSC men’s team broke nine school records—some multiple times—and recorded 55 top-ten program times. They were ranked as high as 24th nationally by the CSCAA and finished 29th at the NCAA Division III Championship. In addition to athletic success, the men’s team achieved a 3.56 GPA, and nearly all eligible swimmers were named to the PCSC All-Academic Team.

2024-2025 Women’s Team Coaching Staff of the Year

Azusa Pacific University
Tim Kyle (Head Coach), Jodi Lepp (Assistant Coach)

Head Coach Tim Kyle and Assistant Coach Jodi Lepp led Azusa Pacific to its most outstanding season in program history, claiming the 2025 PCSC Women’s Championship title. APU had the highest point-scoring athlete at the conference meet, Montana White, who was also named Female Swimmer of the Meet. The Cougars produced multiple podium finishes and qualified two swimmers—Montana White and Mikaela Maemura—for the NCAA Division II National Championships.

At Nationals, APU broke school records and posted program-best finishes in both the 800 and 400 freestyle relays, placing 8th and 13th, respectively. Montana White returned from Nationals as a five-time First Team All-American, setting personal bests in all four of her individual events and both of her relay splits. She also scored 60 points—the most ever by a single swimmer in APU history at Nationals. Azusa Pacific finished 15th overall at the NCAA Championships, marking the highest finish in program history and the best among all PCSC programs this season.
