PCSC Athletes of the Week: Dec. 21
The Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of December 14-20 on Monday. The PCSC coaches named UC Santa Cruz swimmers Christian Leon and Ryan Springer-Carter its Division III Male and Female Athletes of the Week, respectively, while UC San Diego's Grant Crawford and Delainey Carlin garnered Division II honors.
DIII Men
Christian Leon, UC Santa Cruz: 50 Free 22.74, 100 Free 48.40, lead off 200 Free on 800 Free Relay 1:45.53, 500 Free 4:48.32, in addition to swimming on three relays.
DIII Women
Ryan Springer-Carter, UC Santa Cruz: 50 Free 24.82, 100 Free 53.86, 100 IM 1:04.05, plus swam on four relays.
DII Men
Grant Crawford, UC San Diego: One-Meter Diving (7th, 212.85); Three-Meter Diving (7th, 236.55)
Crawford was the top finisher for the UCSD men in both the one-meter and three-meter springboard diving competitions at the Inland Empire Diving Invitational Saturday in Riverside. The redshirt freshman posted a pair of seventh-place efforts, scoring a career-high 236.55 points from three meters and a season-best 212.85 off of one.
DII Women
Delainey Carlin, UC San Diego: One-Meter Diving (6th, 201.80); Three-Meter Diving (4th, 226.90)
Carlin put together a pair of collegiate bests to lead the UCSD women at Saturday's Inland Empire Diving Invitational in Riverside. The true freshman first scored 201.80 points over her six dives on the one-meter springboard, before moving on to the three-meter board and compiling 226.90 points for fourth.
The PCSC includes institutions from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). All three divisions of the NCAA are represented. Each week, the PCSC coaches nominate and vote on the Athletes of the Week in seven categories: NCAA Division I women, Division II men and women, Division III men and women and NAIA men and women.
