PCSC Athletes of the Week: Feb. 1

The Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 25-31 on Tuesday. Soka's Karoline Schaufler and Michael Nunn garnered the conference's NAIA Athlete of the Week awards, while the Division I honors went to Pepperdine's Allison Naasz. Rounding out the final weekly honors of the 2015-16 season, were Fresno Pacific's Wesley Coles and Daria Belova and UC San Diego's Allyson Cohen, who all collected the Division II accolades.

NAIA Women

Karoline Schaufler, Soka: Karoline won the 200 fly with an NAIA A cut time of 2:16.22 and finished second in the 100 fly (1:04.12). She also grabbed a runner-up finish in the 200IM (2:25.72) and swam on the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay against College of Idaho.

NAIA Men

Michael Nunn, Soka: Michael won both the 100 back in 55.53 and 200 back with a time of 2:02.62 against College of Idaho. He also swam on the 400 Free Relay for the Lions.

DI Women

Allison Naasz, Pepperdine: Allison scored three of the Waves' victories at PCSC Time Trials. She posted a win in the 50 free in a season-best time of 24.71. She also finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.03 and won the 100 free in 53.78.

DII Women

Daria Belova, Fresno Pacific: Daria won the 200 Fly (2:07.79) and 200 IM (2:10.69) in the Sunbirds' Senior Day victory over Biola.

DII Men

Wesley Coles, Fresno Pacific: Wesley won the 100 Free (46.36) and 200 IM (1:54.23) against Biola. Both times were lifetime bests and helped the Sunbirds pick up a Senior Day victory over Biola.

DII Women's Diver of the Week

Allyson Cohen, UC San Diego: Allyson finished second in the one-meter and seventh in the three-meter against San Diego. With her NCAA A-cut in the one-meter, Allyson became the third Triton this season—all from women's diving—to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis. She eclipsed the necessary point total (390) on the one-meter springboard, continuing on from her six initial dives for dual-meet scoring and winding up with an 11-dive mark of 397.86. It will be Cohen's second trip to nationals.

The PCSC includes institutions from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). All three divisions of the NCAA are represented. Each week, the PCSC coaches nominate and vote on the Athletes of the Week in seven categories: NCAA Division I women, Division II men and women, Division III men and women and NAIA men and women.
