Male Swimmer of the Week

Massimo Reyna-  UCSC 

Massimo had an excellent weekend of racing. Friday, against D1 competition in CSU Bakersfield, Massimo won the 200 freestyle in a personal best of 1:38.98. That time is a D3 NCAA B cut and ranks in the top 20 for swims this season, and 4th in the PCSC this season. This is Massi's first individual B cut since his freshman season. He followed that up with a third place finish in the 100 freestyle in another personal best of 45.32. He closed out the day by anchoring the 400 free relay for the Slugs in a split of 45.45. The next day vs. Simpson, he took second in the 200 IM in another personal best of 1:58.30

Female Swimmer of the Week

Katy Hawk-  UCSC

Katy had arguably her best meet as a Slug this past weekend against D1 competition in CSU Bakersfield. She opened the meet by anchoring the winning 200 medley relay. She followed that up by winning the 200 free in a personal best of 1:51.19. That time is a D3 NCAA B Cut, the second fastest in UCSC history, and the second fastest in the PCSC this season. This is Katy's first NCAA B cut. She followed that with an event win in the 100 free in a time of 51.55. This is a UCSC record, a personal best, and the third fastest time in the PCSC this season. She rounded out the day anchoring the winning 400 free relay in a split of 52.22. The next day again Simpson, she split 30.85 in the 50 breast on the 200 medley relay, won the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:12.26, and led off the 200 free relay in a time of 24.25

Male Freshman of the Week

Sebastian Santiago- UCSC 

Sebastian had a great weekend of racing. On Friday against D1 competition CSU Bakersfield. He took second in the 100 breast in a time of 55.84, which is a personal best, second fastest all time for UCSC, and third fastest in the PCSC this season. After that narrow loss, he followed it up with an event win in the 200 breast in a time of 2:02.32. That is a season best and second fastest in program history for UCSC. He also took second in the 200 IM in a time of 1:54.72 and swam the breast leg on the B 200 medley relay with a split of 25.48. The next day at the Simpson meet, he took second in the 100 back in a season best of 52.04, and third in the 50 free in a personal best of 21.83.

Female Freshman of the Week (TIE)

Kimberly Greene- Westmont College 

Kimberly has been on a roll these last few weeks. In Alaska at the UAF vs Westmont duals , Kimberly went 3/3 in wins for individual events against the Nanooks. She started out by winning the 1650 on Day 1 with a time of 18:03.29. Then on Day 2 she won the 1000 with a season best time of 10:49.21, and won the 500 with a 5:17.91.

Sienna Ancona- UCSC 

Sienna had a solid weekend of racing. She took second in the 100 and 200 backstroke events against CSU Bakersfield in time of 58.76 and 2:06.99, and took third in the 100 fly in a time of 59.82. The next day against Simpson, she won the 100 fly in a time of 58.96.

Male Diver of the Week

Eoin Hempenstall- UCSC -

Eoin took third on the 1m and 3m boards at the meet vs. CSU Bakersfield in a scores of 227.63 and 208.35 respectively. The next day he won the 1m board in a score of 224.70 and placed second on the 3m board in a score of 182.55.

Female Diver of the Week

Taylor O'Malley- UCSC 

Taylor had an incredible weekend of diving. On Friday, against D1 opponent CSU Bakersfield, she took third on the 1m in a score of 227.48 and won the 3m board in a score of 244.05. Then, extending to the 11 dive list, she hit a score of 435.23, breaking the UCSC record and reaching the standard for a D3 regionals qualification. The next day, she took second in the 1m board in a score of 253.50 and second on the 3m board in a score of 254.25. Then, extending to 11 dives again, she hit another regional standard of 438.15, breaking her own school record and punching her ticket to the regional D3 meet in Atlanta.
