Week 5 Athletes of the Week
Male Swimmer of the Week –
Koen Vos, Biola University
Koen Vos - Biola University - In his first dual meet of the season, water polo standout Koen Vos made an immediate
impact for Biola Swim & Dive, winning both relays and the 100 freestyle individually. Vos anchored Biola’s 400
Medley Relay with an impressive 46.71 split, helping the team post the second-fastest time in the conference. He
also captured the 100 freestyle in 46.56, which ranks third in the PCSC, and led off the 200 freestyle relay in 21.32,
contributing to a conference-leading relay performance. His efforts marked one of the strongest dual-meet debuts
of the year within the conference.
Female Swimmer of the Week –
Tehani Kong, Cal State East Bay
Junior sprinter Tehani Kong delivered a dominant weekend for Cal State East Bay, excelling across multiple events
in back-to-back meets against Division I UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz. At UC Davis, Kong shined against elite
competition — taking first in the 100 Butterfly (54.58) and fourth in the 50 Freestyle (23.81), both the top times in
the PCSC this season. Tehani carried that momentum into the next day’s dual meet at UC Santa Cruz, sweeping her
individual events with wins in the 50 Freestyle (24.02) and 100 Butterfly (55.28). She was also apart of both
Pioneer relay victories — the 400 Medley Relay (3:49.91- Top Time in the PCSC) and 200 Freestyle Relay (1:36.53-
2nd in the PCSC).
Male Freshman of the Week –
Ben Smith, Biola University
Ben Smith - Biola University - Freshman Ben Smith anchored Biola’s 200 freestyle relay with a 21.23 split, helping
secure the top conference relay time. He also placed second in the 50 freestyle (21.74), ranking sixth in the PCSC
and establishing himself as one of the top freshman sprinters in the conference.
Female Freshman of the Week –
Morgan Carles, Biola University
Morgan Carles - Biola University - Morgan Carles had an outstanding weekend, winning both the 200 back
(2:03.28) and 200 free (1:53.25). Her 200 back ranks first in the PCSC and 12th nationally in Division II, while her
200 free ranks second in the conference. Carles also led off the 400 medley relay, which currently holds the top
conference ranking.
Male Diver of the Week –
Caleb Pook, Biola University
Caleb Pook - Biola University - Caleb Pook swept both boards with scores of 248.80 on 3-meter and 297.35 on 1-
meter in a six-dive lineup. He continues to lead the PCSC on both boards and remains one of the top divers in the
conference heading into mid-season competition.
