Day 4 Recap
The final night of the 2026 PCSC Championships brought together the competition for the final time this season at the East Los Angeles Swim Stadium.
The women's 1650 freestyle fastest heat kicked off the night's proceedings, with an exact repeat of our podium from the 500 freestyle. East Bay's Maggie Clemens (16:57.28), Malana Kollath (17:16.37) & Azusa's Kya Guikema (17:25.01) finishing in the podium positions. It was a similar podium makeup in the men's event, with Josh Peace (15:40.68), Samuel Slezak (16:04.32), & Noah Hall (16:08.51) making it a clean sweep for Biola University. Fresno's Oskar Herbut and UCSC's Dylan Blietz battled through the whole race, with Herbut ultimately taking 5th overall in a 16:23.61, just six hundredths ahead of Blietz.
Katherine Dyer secured her high point award with a title in the 100 freestyle, Her 50.12 win was almost a second and a half ahead of the field, with Azusa's Sydnee Wilson touching in a 51.46. Dyer's Master's teammate touched third, finishing in a 51.55. Concordia got a win in the B-final from Hannah Edwards, who won by three hundredths (52.54). After setting a meet record in prelims, Santa Cruz's Kyle Reitan was out a touch slower in the final tonight, before touching in a 43.97, his second time under 44 in one day. Izaiah Trevino-Lozano swam a 44.57 for second, with Fresno's August Ottesen making the podium again at a 44.66. Swimming out of the C-final, Karl Yount swam an NAIA B-cut for the Yotes, finishing 21st overall in a 47.47.
The women's 200 backstroke went to East Bay's Taylor Kolsch in a 2:01.82. Allison Yancey swam to a 2:03.06 for Biola, with her teammate Morgan Carles joining her on the podium (2:03.88). The Master's Clara Patterson swam to a 2:04.72 to win the B-final, a time that would have placed just off the top 3 podium. Nathan Griffin put Biola on the podium again in the men's event, this time for gold (1:46.65). Greyson Davies (1:47.88) took second for Santa Cruz, with teammate Asher Kates rounded out the podium in a 1:48.59. The Master's William Butts swam a solo C-final for the second time this meet, putting up a 2:11.52.
The women's 200 breaststroke was dominantly won by Azusa's Angelica Benitez in a 2:16.81. Lily Wolfinger took second for the Banana Slugs, touching at a 2:18.61. After charging on the third 50, Dorka Dancsok faded to third in a 2:19.17, hanging on for the podium by nine hundredths of a second. The Men's 200 breaststroke was another win for Evan Nail, with the Master's junior touching at a 2:00.10. Never letting up the pulse was UCSC's Sebastian Santiago, who had his highest place finish as a freshman in a 2:02.17. His teammates Jack West (2:03.93) and PJ Fortune (2:04.05) dueled into the wall, with West the man on the bronze medal podium. Idaho Yotes got a B-final win, courtesy of Cahill Robinson, who swam a 2:05.90. His time tied with the seventh place finish in the A-final.
The Master's University blew away the field in the 400 freestyle relay, with Megan Sutanto, Katherine Dyer, Clara Patterson, and Kylee Sears combining to a 3:24.60, four seconds clear of second place Biola. Allison Yancey, Rachel Munch, Morgan Carles, and Phoebe Munholland were the quartet for Biola in a 3:28.52.
Santa Cruz broke a 26 year old meet record held by the University of Houston to take the win in the 400 freestyle relay, courtesy of Kyle Reitan, Andrew Koika, Bryson Schmid, and Massimo Reyna torching a 2:57.36. Zero of the four champions were born when the relay record was set. The Master's secured another podium finish, with Trevino-Lozano, Nail, Crane, and Charley Sears swam sub 3:00 as well, touching in a 2:59.93.
