PCSC Athletes of the Week: Jan. 20

The Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 11-17 on Wednesday. With only a few teams competing over the course of the week, Pepperdine's Emily Morton and Paulina Holmberg collected weekly honors.

DIVISION I WOMEN

Swimmer

Emily Morton, Pepperdine: Morton from Denver, Colorado. competed in two competitions this past week for Pepperdine winning the 400IM in 4:38.90 in a dual meet vs. SDSU on Friday and taking first in three events on Saturday in double-dual vs. LMU and USD. Emily posted wins in the 200 Medley Relay swimming the breaststroke leg in a 30.43, in the 200IM with a time of 2:11.16 and in the 100 Breast with a 1:08.27.

Diver

Paulina Holmberg, Pepperdine: In Friday's competition against SDSU, Junior Holmberg led the Waves in the 1-meter dive by scoring a 208.19, good for fourth place. In Saturday's completion against USD, Holmberg won the 3-meter diving competition scoring 245.57. She then followed up that performance with a second-place finish in the 1-meter with a 208.35.

The PCSC includes institutions from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). All three divisions of the NCAA are represented. Each week, the PCSC coaches nominate and vote on the Athletes of the Week in seven categories: NCAA Division I women, Division II men and women, Division III men and women and NAIA men and women.
