PCSC Athletes of the Week: Mar. 10

The Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Mar. 1-7 on Wednesday. The honor of Women's Athlete of the Week goes to LMU's Heidi Ly.

Heidi Ly, LMU: In the Medley Pentathlon, freshman Ly, was the overall winner recording a combined time of 4:08.90 in the five events, two seconds faster than second place Anna Haakema from Biola. Ly showed her versatility by winning the 50 backstroke in 27.97, placing second in the 200 IM (2:14.53), fourth in both the 50 fly (27.66) and 50 breast (32.86) and fifth in the 50 free (25.88). Ly also swam the fastest leg in the 200 Freestyle relay (24.96) at the end of the meet in a head-to-head battle with Biola who got the touch over LMU 1:41.34 to 1:42.83.

The PCSC includes institutions from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). All three divisions of the NCAA are represented. Each week, the PCSC coaches nominate and vote on the Athletes of the Week in seven categories: NCAA Division I women, Division II men and women, Division III men and women and NAIA men and women.
