Biola Crowned Men's & Women's PCSC Champions
IRVINE, Calif. – The 2020-21 season has been a unique and competitive season and after three days of competition at the PCSC Championships, a new champion has been crowned. The Biola Eagles fought to the finish and ultimately came out on top as both the men and women's programs earned the title of 2021 PCSC Champions.

Heading into day three, Pepperdine was atop the leader boards in the PCSC for the women. Emily Morton helped continue the Waves' reign, picking up another top finish, with a 2:02.41 finish in the 200 Backstroke. Her teammate Jasmine Williams followed right behind with a time of 2:03.65 to boost Pepperdine's points total.
Biola responded with top two finishes in the 100 Free, led by Kolya Vos with a 51.04 time to take the title. Fellow Eagle Meghan Tolman secured second with a 51.90 finish.
Grace Kling brought home another individual title for Biola with in the 200 Breaststroke. She swam a time of 2:17.43, a five second lead over Pepperdine's Olivia Kayye (2:22.77) and Biola's Anna Haaksma (2:22.88).
Azusa Pacific earned its third individual title, this one coming in the 200 Fly led by Emily Rigsby who swam a final time of 2:06.48. Following behind for podium finishes was Fresno Pacific's Taylor Pajunen (2:08.04) and Fresno Pacific's Karlie Rimat (2:08.14).
For the 1650 Free, Audrey Vermeulen had an outstanding performance for Biola. The Eagles swimmer finished with a 17:48.00 to take the title for her event. Finishing in second was Westmont's Morgan Bienias with an 18:01.59 followed by Pepperdine's Pia Anderson who swam a 18:10.46 time.
Olivia Kayye came out with an individual title in her final swim of the meet for Pepperdine, swimming a time of 10:36.18 in the 1000 Free. Loyola Marymount's Lily Gallagher finished in second (10:42.98) while Alaska Fairbank's Tori Shoemaker came in third (10:46.61).
Rounding out the meet for the women, Pepperdine secured the last event win in the 400 Free Relay led by Jenna Sanchez, Sammie Slater, Paige Tattersall, and Jasmine Williams with a time of 3:26.46.
In the end, the last few events decided the overall winner of the meet, with Biola holding onto a 1,494 edge over Pepperdine who had 1,490. Loyola Marymount scored 831.50 to take third with Concordia slightly behind with 819.

Iskender Baslakov got the meet started for the men, picking up a title for Fresno Pacific in the 200 Back. Baslakov secured a top finish time of 1:50.15 for his third title this week.
Another Sunbird picked up a win to follow as Fresno Pacific's Aleksandr Ivakin earned a 45.08 finish in the 100 Free. Concordia's Christopher Haygood (45.66) and Simpson's Chadd Maurer (45.75) were close behind to each take podium spots.
Simpson's Tom Higdon collected his second top finish for the week with a 2:00.30 time in the 200 Breast.
Biola boosted its points total in the 200 Fly event, securing a member in each of the top four spots. Patrick Waggoner (1:50.93), led the Eagles squad followed by Matthew Trejo (1:51.94), Michael Maurer (1:54.29), and Dylan Pon (1:57.03).
In the 1650 Free, Concordia's Taylor Steffen rose above with a time of 15:58.60, a near minute less than the next competitor.
Biola's Gabe Weber delivered in the 1000 Free, swimming a 9:38.17, for his first individual title of the meet, and securing a repeat podium finish from last season.
Lastly, the Biola Eagles finished off the day with a top relay finish led by Jonas Huckabay, Tanner Smith, Matthew Trejo, and Patrick Waggoner. The team swam a 3:01.94 time with Fresno Pacific and Concordia right behind.
Biola came out with 957 points, coming out with seven conference titles. Placing second was Concordia with 618 who had four titles and then Fresno Pacific in third by way of 529 points.
