Female Swimmer of the Week

Katherine Dyer, Freshman, The Master’s University

Katherine had an amazing first championship meet to end her first college semester. She won 4 events breaking 3 NAIA records in the process, posting the times of 2.00.33 in 200 IM, 4.16.63 in 400 IM, 1.03.07 in 100 Breast, and 1.59.96 in 200 Back. She also led off our freestyle relays with a 23.40 / 49.93 / 1.49.11. Her 200 and 400 IM times are not only the top times and records in NAIA but are also the top times across all of NCAA D2 and D3.

This is Katherine’s second time earning Athletes of the Week honors.

 

Male Swimmer of the Week

Rasmus Hanson, Sophomore, Fresno Pacific University

While competing this past weekend, the Sunbird Sophomore competed in the 2024 La Verne Winter Invite and recorded a perfect 7 for 7 outing. Rasmus set new FPU school records of 19.71 in the 50 Free and 1:36.14 in the 200 Free on his way to 1st place finishes, respectively, and recorded a 3rd individual title in the 100 Free of 43.86. Both times are under the existing PCSC Records and the NCAA Division II cuts. He currently ranks 5th in the 50, 13th in the 100, and 10th in the 200 Freestyles in the country. Rasmus also lead the Sunbirds to 4 relay titles recording splits of 19.71 (200 Free Relay leadoff), 43.30 (400 Medley Relay anchor leg), 19.60 (200 Medley Relay anchor leg), and 43.63 (400 Free Relay anchor leg).

 

Female Freshman of the Week

Kate Spraul, Westmont College

Kate started the 2024 La Verne Winter Invite with a new program record in the 500 Free final (5:04.76), just .07 off the NCAA B cut and ranks her 3rd in the PCSC. She also swam the 200 Fly and set a new program record for Westmont with a 2:12.13. Kate was part of the Warriors 800 Free Relay which scored 4th place overall finish.

 

Male Freshman of the Week (TIE)

Olivier Petre, Fresno Pacific University

Olivier, a freshman from Belgium, had a fantastic Mid-Season meet at the 2024 La Verne Winter Invite. He recorded times of 21.19; 45.52 and 1:40.33 in the 50, 100, and 200 Freestyles and recorded relay splits of 20.20 (200 Medley Relay B anchor), 20.24 (200 Free Relay A), and 45.20 (400 Medley Relay B anchor).

This is Olivier’s second Freshman of the Week win of the season.

Charley Sears, The Master's University

Charley had a very successful freshman championship meet, outscoring all other male freshmen at the midseason winter invite. He placed 3rd in the 200 Breast with 2:05, 6th in the 200 IM with 1:43.94, and 4th in the 400 IM with 4;04.08. Charley was also a part of our 1st-place 800 Freestyle Relay.

This is Charley’s second Freshman of the Week honor of the season.
