Female Swimmer of the Week
Sydnee Wilson, Freshman, Azusa Pacific University
Sydnee had an impressive weekend at the Slug Shootout in Santa Cruz. She Scored the second most points in the meet only to her teammate Montana White. Sydnee won the 50 Free with a time of 23.96. She won the 50 Breast with a time of 30.52. She was second in the 100 Free with a time of 52.44. Sydnee has a personal best time in the 200 Free of 1:54.78 placing 3rd and She also led off the winning 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay.
Male Swimmer of the Week
Asher Kates, Freshman, US Santa Cruz
Asher had an outstanding meet at the Slug Shootout, winning three events and scoring the most points in the meet on the men's side with 91. He won the 400 IM in a time of 4:10.69 which is the fastest in the PCSC this season and 4th in D3. He won the 200 IM as well in a time of 1:56.07, which is also the fastest in the PCSC this season and 14th in D3. And he won the 200 back in a time of 1:55.92, which is 3rd in the PCSC and 15th in D3. He also took second in the 100 back in a time of 52.64 which is the 8th fastest in UCSC history. He also swam on the Slugs' B medley relays, splitting 59.89 on the breast leg on the 400 and 25.22 on the back leg on the 200. He also had a 5th-place finish in the 50 back at the meet in a time of 25.19.
Female Freshman of the Week
Mikaela "Mikki" Maemura, Azusa Pacific University
Mikki was the fourth-highest total point scorer at the Slug Shootout in Santa Cruz. She won the 100 Back with a time of 57.64 and she won the 50 Back with a time of 26.97. Mikki was 2nd in the 200 Free with a time of 1:54.52 and second in the 50 fly with a time of 26.57. She was also on the winning 200 Free Relay and winning 400 Free Relay.
Male Freshman of the Week
Andrew Koika, UC Santa Cruz
Andrew scored 55 points for the Slugs at the Slug Shootout this weekend. His top finish was in the 50 free, taking second in a time of 21.52. He was 7th in the 100 free in a time of 47.59. He took 4th in the 50 fly in a time of 23.62. He took 8th in the 100 fly in a time of 53.36. He also had some big relay swims, splitting 22.74 in the fly leg of the Slugs' 200 medley, which took 3rd. His biggest swims were on the free relays, splitting 21.37 on the 200 free relay, which took first and is the fastest in the PCSC this season, and the 7th fastest in D3. And he split a 47.06 on the 400 free relay which took first in a time of 3:06.72 and stands as the second fastest in the PCSC this season, and 5th fastest in D3. Both free relays were the 8th fastest in UCSC program history.
Female Diver of the Week
Allison Ferrer, Junior, Azusa Pacific University
Allison won both boards 1m and 3m at the Slug Shootout this past weekend. She had her best meet of the season scoring 224.20 on 1m and 230.50 on 3m. She scored 40 points and helped her team win the meet.
Male Diver of the Week
Trevor Masters, Freshman, UC Santa Cruz
Trevor took 3rd place on the 1m board with a score of 122.70 this past weekend.
