Athletes of the Week Oct. 20 - 26, 2024

Female Swimmer of the Week

Alice Stainer, Junior, Concordia University Irvine

Alice won two events at Pomona Pitzer recording the 5th fastest 100 Free (53.14) and 7th fastest 200 Free time (1:55.79) in the PCSC conference. She led off (53.17) the 400 Free Relay that swam to the 3rd fastest time in the conference (3:34.91) and just outside the CUI All-Time Top-10. She posted a season-best 50 Free in the Golden Eagles 1-4 sweep in that event.

Male Swimmer of the Week

Kyle Reitan, Sophomore, UC Santa Cruz

Kyle earned his second Male Swimmer of the Week title this season! Kyle had yet another phenomenal meet. He won the 50 free against D1 competition, with a season-best and PCSC leading time of 20.93. He also took second in the 100 Fly, in a lifetime best of 51.16. He also swam an incredible Free leg of the medley relay, splitting 20.26. And he finished off the day, leading off the 400 Free Relay with a lifetime best of 45.93. The Slugs narrowly lost to the University of the Pacific in the event, and their time of 3:06.23 stands as the 3rd fastest in D3 this season.

Female Freshman of the Week

Noelle Landon, Concordia University Irvine

A freshman from Richland, WA, Noelle raced to three PRs in the 50-100 Back in the Golden Eagles victory at Pomona Pitzer. She set her first PR on the B 200 Medley Relay which posted a top-10 PCSC time, then bettered it (and earned a runner-up finish to her teammate) in the 50 Back (#4 ranking in the PCSC). She then broke through the 0:59 barrier in the 100 Back, going a PR 58.95, good for #5 in the PCSC. Finally, she swam a split on the B 400 Rree Relay (54.9) that was 2 seconds better than her best PR flat start!

Male Freshman of the Week

Jackson Rosol, Concordia University Irvine

A freshman from Reno, NV, Jackson blasted to a win in the 400 IM with a season-best 4:08.42, as the first three swimmers all swam under 4:09. This time is currently the fastest in the PCSC, and 16th nationally in NCAA DII. He also swam to a runner-up finish in the 100 Back (53.24), only 2/10 off his PR and the fastest time for CUI this season. It is currently the #8 time in the PCSC.

Female Diver of the Week

Chloe Dobie, Freshman, Concordia University Irvine

Chloe has been named Female Diver of the Week for the second time this season!

A freshman from Los Angeles, Chloe had an outstanding meet at Pomona Pitzer for the Golden Eagles. She won both the 1m and 3m events setting collegiate PRs in each. She scored a 246.00 on 1m which is the 2nd highest score in CUI history for a 6-dive event and her 238.55 on 3m also ranks at #2 only 8 points behind the school record. Both are improvements of over 30 points and move her closer to the NCAA D2 consideration standards.

Male Diver of the Week

Charles “Charlie” Shortt, Freshman, UC Santa Cruz

This is Charlie’s second Male Diver of the Week honor of the season! Charlie had a season-best on both boards, winning both with scores of 181.65 on the 1m and 180.60 on the 3m.
