PCSC Athletes of the Week: Oct. 5
Collegiate swim & dive has returned to the NCAA and NAIA levels for the 2021-22 season. Following the first week of competition, the Pacific Coast Swim Conference announced Concordia athletes Jonah Pohlmann and Ryan Burke as the Men and Women Athletes of the Week respectively.
MEN
NCAA DII Swimmer
Jonah Pohlmann – Concordia
Pohlmann ended the North State Invitational with three event victories. Keys to Pohlmann's success were victories in the 1000 (9:58.29), coming from behind to win the 200 butterfly (1:56.39) and a win in the 500 free (4:48.91). He also led off the "B" relay in a solid 22.9 to help that squad take 2nd in the 4x50 free relay.
WOMEN
NCAA DII Swimmer
Ryan Burke – Concordia
Burke won three events at the North State Invitational on Saturday. She led the 200 fly wire-to-wire and came from behind to win both the 1000 and 500 freestyles. Her time for the 200 fly (2:10.19) ranks fifth all-time in Concordia history, while the 1000 (10:52.60) ranks her eight. The freshman's three swims are in-season PRs.
