PCSC Athletes of the Week: Oct. 26
The Pacific Coast Swim Conference has announced the PCSC Swimmer & Divers for the week of October 20-26. This week's award winners are Kyle Benjamin (Men's DII Swimmer) and Georgia Caraway (Women's DII Swimmer) from Concordia, Amy Crayne (Women's DII Diver) from Azusa Pacific, and Lily Gallagher (Women's DI Swimmer) from LMU.
MEN
NCAA DII Swimmer
Kyle Benjamin -- Concordia
Benjamin earned two first place finishes in Concordia's victory over Cal Lutheran. The senior secured the top spot in the 1650 Free (16:29.46), which improves his time to sixth best in the nation amongst DII schools. He also won the 500 Free (4:47.59) putting him second best in the PCSC in that event. This is Benjamin's first honors this season and the sixth of his career.
WOMEN
NCAA DI Swimmer
Lily Gallagher -- LMU
In the quad dual meet in Los Angeles, Gallagher was one of the top performers for the Lion's swim squad. She finished with season-high times in the 200 Free (2:00.05) and 500 Free (5:21.61). The junior was also the anchor in the 400 Medley Relay where her team beat Seattle. This is Gallagher's first weekly honor and the first for LMU this season.
NCAA DII Diver
Amy Crayne -- Azusa Pacific
Crayne swept the diving portion of the meet versus Biola. The senior set a new personal-record with a 293.48 score in the One-Meter and finished with a 252.60 in the Three-Meter. Her score for the One-Meter was a NCAA National qualifying standard score. This is Crayne's first honors this season and the third of her career.
NCAA DII Swimmer
Georgia Caraway -- Concordia
Caraway finished the weekend for Concordia with three wins against Cal Lutheran. Her victories included top finishes in the 200 Medley Relay, 100 Breast (1:08.75), and 200 Back (2:11.95). The sophomore has improved her times in both individual events, putting her at sixth best in the PCSC for the 100 Breast, and eight best in the 200 Back.
The PCSC includes institutions from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). All three divisions of the NCAA are represented. Each week, the PCSC coaches nominate and vote on the Athletes of the Week in seven categories: NCAA Division I women, Division II men and women, Division III men and women and NAIA men and women.
