St. George, Utah – The 2022 PCSC Conference Championships got underway on the campus of Dixie State University on February 16, as teams gathered in the pool and on the board for a chance for the conference title.

There were eight awards handed out at the end of day one with teams competing hard to get the event going. The Pepperdine Waves took the top spot on the women's side with 202 points, followed by UC Santa Cruz with 184, and UC Santa Cruz with 168.

On the men's side, UC Santa Cruz, the lone NCAA DIII school, stands in first with 115 points, right ahead of Biola with 109, and a close race at third and fourth with Concordia and Fresno Pacific respectively.

Cal State East Bay's Peyton Wayment set the pace in the Women's 1000 Free, taking first (10:31.28) for the first award in the timed result events. The fifth-year senior crushed the PCSC season-high time by nearly 18-seconds. Coming in second was Pepperdine's Olivia Kayye (10:34.88) and in third, Aly Roberts from UC Santa Cruz (10:36.22).

On the men's side in the 1000 Free, UCSC earned a first-place finish from Sam Smith (9:38.00), where the junior set another PCSC top time. Smith's teammate Presley Golling was behind (9:42.09), and Biola's Gabriel Weber followed (9:42.23).

Pepperdine moved up in the standings for the women with it's 200 Medley Relay win (1:43.94), which featured Kara Coughlin, Olivia Kayye, Emma Purdy, and Jenna Sanchez. The quartet improved their conference leading time by 1.11 seconds.

Fresno Pacific also held their league best-time in the Men's 200 Medley Relay led by Iskender Baslakov, Denisz Der, Kirill Baron, and Oleksandr Ivakin. The team just barely improved their time of 1:30.29 set back in December, by .07 seconds.

Cal State East Bay earned its first win of the day in the Women's 800 Free Relay with the team of Jacqueline Feurtado, Olivia Parham, Maddie Wittkowske, and Isabel Rishwain (7:31.32), setting a season-best time.

Rounding out the day, Concordia picked up a win in the Men's 800 Free Relay, led by Kyle Benjamin, Christopher Haygood, Andrew Dimino, and Kyle Stocek (6:46.51). The team set a new PCSC season-high time.
