PCSC Championships: Day Three

Day Three Results

St. George, Utah -- Back on the campus of Dixie State University, the PCSC Conference Championships continued for day three of action.

Pepperdine holds onto the lead at the end of the day for the women with 1147.50 points. Cal State East Bay also remains behind in second with 964 points followed by Azusa Pacific in third with 666.50.

On the men's side, it is a close battle with UC Santa Cruz holding a lead with 531.50 points over Biola's 524.50. Concordia is also right behind with 504 points.

The first award of the day went to UC Santa Cruz's Vivi Raker who swam a 56.03 in the Women's 100 Fly. It was a close finish for the final two spots as Cal State East Bay's Emma Knott (56.71) and The Master's Emma McMurray (56.80) came in next.

Kirill Baron from Fresno Pacific was the winner of the Men's 100 Fly (50.39) with Aaron Wu of UCSC coming in a close second (50.42). The Master's Nilton DosSantos de Oliveira (50.83) earned a third place finish for the Mustangs.

The Women's 400 IM first place finisher was Amanda Anderson of Azusa Pacific. The junior ended with a 4:27.38 time while Liza Parahnevich of Biola was next with a 4:28.43 finish and Pepperdine's Emily Morton (4:30.91) next.

Concordia's Kyle Benjamin claimed the title in the Men's 400 IM with a 3:55.48 time. UCSC's John Madden (4:04.09) finished next and Biola's Patrick Waggoner (4:06.20) came in third.

Montana White of Azusa Pacific earned herself another win for the meet, winning the Women's 200 Free (1:50.61) while UCSC's Maddy Gruender (1:51.70) and CSUEB's Jacqueline Feurtado (1:52.45) garnered second and third respectively.

The freshman Janek Bialecki from Fresno Pacific continued his success with a 1:37.68 finish in the Men's 200 Free to take first. Coming in second was UCSC's Sam Smith (1:40.28) and in third was Concordia's Christopher Haygood (1:41.86).

In the Women's 100 Breast, CSUEB's Delaney Carlson (1:04.58) was crowned the winner with Biola's Grace Kling (1:04.18) and Pepperdine's Jenna Sanchez (1:04.90) coming in right behind.

Tom Higdon put Simpson on the board with a 55.49 victory in the Men's 100 Breast. CUI's Ryan Martines (56.17) and FPU's Denisz Der slid in right behind Higdon.

Senior Kara Coughlin secured a win for Pepperdine (56.17) in the Women's 100 Back. FPU's junior Ioanna Palla earned second (56.77) and coming in third was CSUEB's Alondra Ortiz (57.19).

Iskender Baslakov was the winner of the Men's 100 Back (48.10) while his Fresno Pacific teammate Kirill Baron (50.30) took second. The freshman Thatcher Grooms of Concordia (50.86) came in third for the Eagles.

East Bay racked up another, this time in the Women's 400 Medley Relay, led by Alondra Ortiz, Delaney Carlson, Emma Knott, and Brooklyn Dressel (3:48.58). Pepperdine (3:49.61) and Azusa Pacific (3:54.85) followed right behind to earn podium finishes.

The Sunbirds of FPU came in with the Men's 400 Medley Relay, coming off the team of Iskender Baslakov, Denisz Der, Kirill Baron, and Janek Bialecki (3:19.14). Concordia came in second (3:22.67) and Biola was next with third (3:24.77).
