PCSC Athletes of the Week: Jan. 25

The Pacific Coast Swim Conference has announced the PCSC Swimmer & Divers for the week of January 19-25. This week seven athletes amongst two divisions received recognition, coming from Biola, Fresno Pacific, and UC Santa Cruz.

MEN

NCAA DII Swimmer

Janek Bialecki -- Fresno Pacific

Bialecki placed top two in four events over the weekend in the Concordia-UC Santa Cruz tri-meet. The freshman won the 200 Free (1.42.46) as well as the 100 Free (46.83). He came up second in the 50 Free (21.60), where he finished behind another Sunbird, and was part of the second place 400 Free Relay team. This is Bialecki's second weekly honor and one of six for Fresno Pacific this season.

NCAA DII Diver

Luke Bartruff – Biola

Bartruff had a pair of top two performances in the dual meet against UC Santa Cruz. The freshman came up second in both the 1M and 3M board events, improving his score by 126 points from the previous competition. He currently holds the second-best scores amongst all PCSC members so far this season. This is Bartruff's first weekly honor and one of six for Biola this season.

NCAA DIII Swimmer

Brandon Le – UCSC

Le finished first against Biola, winning the 100 Back (53.50), and 200 Back (1:57.78), both personal season-best times. Following up against Concordia the next day, he set another season-best in the 200 IM. This is Le's first weekly honor and one of seven for UCSC this season.

WOMEN

NCAA DII Swimmer

Ioanna Palla -- Fresno Pacific

Palla had multiple top three finishes in the Sunbirds tri-meet with Concordia & UC Santa Cruz. The junior swam first in the 100 Back (1.00.25) and second in the 200 Back (2.09.78), rounding out with third in the 200 Medley Relay (28.10 Back Split). This is Palla's first weekly honor and the one of six for Fresno Pacific this season.

NCAA DII Diver

Eliana Cote -- Biola

Cote was triumphant in two events on the board in a dual meet against UC Santa Cruz. In the 1M, she scored 208.35 and in the 3M, she scored 204.30. For both events, she currently ranks top three in the PCSC. This is Cote's six weekly honor and one of five for Biola this season.

NCAA DIII Swimmer

Quincy Timmerman – UCSC

Timmerman finished third in the 200 Breast and ended with a first-place finish in the 200 IM (2:17.38) against Biola. The following day, she participated in the same events, improving to first place wins. She ended with two personal best times. This is Timmerman's first weekly honor and one of seven for UC Santa Cruz this season.

NCAA DIII DIVER

Heather Dollins – UCSC

Against Biola, Dollins posted personal best scores in the 1M (137.40) and the 3M (117.40). Her scores helped put the Banana Slugs on the board in the win over the Eagles to open up the weekend. This is Dollins' first weekly honor and one of seven for UC Santa Cruz this season.

The PCSC includes institutions from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). All three divisions of the NCAA are represented. Each week, the PCSC coaches nominate and vote on the Athletes of the Week in seven categories: NCAA Division I women, Division II men and women, Division III men and women and NAIA men and women.
