Male Swimmer of the Week
Jan Bialecki, Fresno Pacific University, Junior
Jan won the 50 free (19.73), 100 free (43.57), and 100 fly (47.19) at the 2023 La Verne Winter Collegiate Invite over the weekend. All three times are under NCAA Division II Nationals B Standards and well inside the D-II Top 10 nationally. He also led the Sunbirds to 4 relay wins: 200 free relay (19.59), 400 free relay (44.24 lead-off), 200 Medley Relay (20.86 fly split), and 800 Free Relay (1:39.20 lead-off; NCAA B cut). Jan’s 50 and 100 free times are the new FPU school records. This is Jan’s second Swimmer of the Week honors this season.
Male Freshman of the Week
Rasmus Hanson, Fresno Pacific University
Rasmus won 2 events (200 free 1:38.60) and (200 fly 1:51.72) while placing 2nd in the 500 free (4:31.41) and 3rd in the 100 free (45.05) over the weekend at the 2023 La Verne Winter Collegiate Invite. All times were under NCAA Division II Nationals B-cut standards. He was also a part of FPU’s 4 winning relays: 200 free relay (20.60 lead-off), 400 free relay (44.65), 800 free relay (1:38.50), and 200 medley relay (20.13). This is the second Freshman of the Week honor for Rasmus.
Male Diver of the Week
Joel Akey, UC Santa Cruz, Senior
2nd place on 1m board, 3rd place on 3m board.
Female Swimmer of the Week
Tehani Kong, CSU East Bay, Freshman
Tehani Kong had her collegiate coming out party this past week at the La Verne Invite at East Los Angeles College. Tehani finished 5th in the 50 Free (23.49), 1st in 100 Fly (54.73) which broke the longest-standing school record at Cal State East Bay and currently sits 3rd in all of Division II. She also finished 2nd in the 100 IM and 4th in the 200 Fly. In addition, Tehani was a part of all 4 winning relays for the Pioneers, which included anchoring a school record 200 Free relay with MONSTER 22.4 50 free split (currently that relay is 3rd in all of D2). She also split 54.2 fly split on the 400 Medley and anchored the 400 Free Relay with a 51.1 (which relay sits 4th in the country)
Female Freshman of the Week
Kirsten Boyle, UC Santa Cruz
Best time and 15th place in 200 IM in a time of 2:11.60, best time and 17th place in 100 fly in a time of 57.66, best time and 10th place in 200 breast in a time of 2:25.82.
