Female Freshman of the Week
Rachel Maki, Concordia University Irvine
Taking on a tough distance double at the Chapman/Biola double dual, Rachel posted victories in both the 500 and 1650 freestyle events against tech-suited opponents. Already possessing a provisional NCAA qualifying time in the 500, Rachel rallied in the final 25 yards to steal a win by 3/10ths of a second in that event. In the mile, she took control at the 300 mark and swam a very steady pace to post a PCSC top-15 time. Her overall workload added to the impressive nature of these wins as she also swam the 100-200 freestyles and was on two CUI relays.
This is Rachel's second Freshman of the Week honors!
